US Military pays for Shakespeare to quell revolt within?

Wed Feb 02, 2005 at 10:10:47 AM PDT

An article this morning from the IHT, A leadership lesson via Shakespeare details the emergence of a management guru firm run by Kenneth Adelman and his wife, Carol. For the last two years, the U.S. Air Force has contracted with Kenneth and Carol Adelman's newest corporate enterprise, Movers & Shakespeares, to "hone the preparation of its air force leaders." James Roche, the former secretary of the air force, said the Adelmans's program would fit in with the air force's larger effort. (Adelman is a long time right-winger. He was an executive committee member of the Committee on the Present Danger, now he is affiliated with PNAC.)

Lighter Note: Bobby Fischer gets Iceland residential visa

Wed Dec 15, 2004 at 10:03:20 PM PDT

Bobby Fischer, former world chess champion, has been granted a residential visa from Iceland. His US passport has been canceled without due process.  Mr. Fischer has been held in detention in Japan for months now, awaiting extradition to the U.S. for flaunting US and UN sanctions against doing business in Yugoslavia when he won a chess rematch there against Boris Spassky in 1992.  He faces up to 10 years in jail if prosecuted in the US.

Martial-Law Tactics Lead to Assault on Privacy

Wed Nov 24, 2004 at 01:32:06 PM PDT

Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Leader, sent out an email with information about the Republican abuse of power in cramming these 1,000+ page bills through the House at the last minute and in the dead of the night.

Particularly galling is this last Omnibus Bill which contained the Istook sneak-and-peak at tax-payer IRS tax returns and curtailing reproductive rights. The House Republican leadership has resorted to this "martial law" tactic close to 30 times in the last two years, ignoring rules requiring that the House not vote on final versions of bills until at least three days after they are approved by committees.

Have put the link below if anyone wants to write to the HouseDemocrats.gov and give them your view. The more the merrier.
